Mr Siddiqi has solved my long-standing problem with professionalism and care. I found it easy to talk to him about sensitive issues. My problem needed a sophisticated and complicated solution, which involved robotic surgery, so overall I feel extremely fortunate to have benefited from his skill as a surgeon, with a successful outcome.

I was referred to Dr siddiqi via my doctor back in 2015. After seeing so many different doctors and being sent away with yet another prescription ∨ a new Diet I almost began to think I was imagining all that I was going through. However,as soon as I walked into his office, I felt this was going to be different from the start. He put me at ease from the moment I walked in,he listened to me and also educated me on certain key words that I used to explain what was wrong &so thorough He was so kind & understanding of my problems and felt he took what I said seriously.........(I actually cried at this point )as NO ONE had actually given any real answers as he had . Dr siddiqi has now found the problem and I'm on medication that really does help me both physically and mentally . Basically he gave me my life back and I feel so much better for it . I would strongly recommend others be referred to him at a drop of a hat . Anji Donohoe

Mr Siddiqi was very attentive and listened to me when I was describing my initial condition. On my first consultation I was in a lot of pain and Mr Siddiqi had to examine me. He was very considerate and extremely careful not to hurt me any further. Mr Siddiqi explained, thoroughly, what was going to be carried out during and after my procedure. After my first procedure another condition was found. He made me aware of what he had found and what my options were. He never makes you feel that you should have any procedure and explains all the pros and cons of having any kind of treatment. He looks at all ways to make you feel more comfortable until you are able to have surgery, of which I have been very great full!

I am fortunate to be under the care of Mr Shahab Siddiqi. He is courteous, thorough and professional. He listened carefully to my symptoms. He made a diagnosis and offered me a suitable treatment plan. It is one year since my initial consultation with Mr Siddiqi. I am pleased to report that I have great relief from the suffering of a long term bowel problem. I am very grateful to Mr Shahab Siddiqi for the help he has given to me. My physical symptoms have greatly improved.

Profile

Mr Siddiqi is a Consultant Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital. Within the Department of General Surgery, he is the Lead Surgeon for Pelvic Floor Surgery and Surgical Site Infections.

Since his appointment, he has initiated advanced robotic surgery using the da Vinci robot for pelvic floor conditions and is one of the most experienced surgeons in this type of robotic surgery in the country. Broomfield Hospital is the only centre in Essex performing robotic operations and is a BUPA preferred centre for robotic surgery. This extensive robotic surgical experience has now been used for other colorectal operations including surgery for cancer. Mr Siddiqi has also introduced new and innovative therapies for faecal incontinence and constipation.

Despite his background as a surgeon, Mr Siddiqi has extensive knowledge in medical problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, pelvic pain and Pruritus ani (anal itch) without which, he feels, he would not be able to manage complex surgical issues.

He has developed academic links with Anglia Ruskin University and is currently involved in surgical research projects in the fields of colorectal cancer and surgical infections. He is a Honorary Senior Lecturer at the university and is the GI module tutor for the MSc in minimal invasive surgery.

Mr Siddiqi graduated from St. Georges Hospital Medical School, London and later undertook research at the University of London studying methods trying to improve the detection of colorectal cancer spread for which he was awarded a MD thesis. He completed his specialist surgical training in the North East Thames Higher Surgical Training programme. Mr Siddiqi obtained further advanced training in Castle Hill Hospital, Hull and Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand. In Hull, which is a leading pelvic floor centre, he undertook a Pelvic Floor Fellowship. Subsequently, Mr Siddiqi obtained the rare accreditation for Sacral Nerve Stimulation from this unit. In New Zealand, he worked as a Laparoscopic Fellow at a busy innovative unit specialising in keyhole surgery.

He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Robotic Surgery.
